Pindos

Shade-tolerant turfgrass

Turfgrass suitable for shaded areas with high tolerance to lack of water following installation. Its main advantage compared to others hade-tolerant mixes is its deep root system which may reach a depth of 70 cm.

Prolonged drought causes serious damage to turfgrass. The shade mix due to reduced requirement for water does not face such a problem. When other types of turfgrass wither, the shade mix will remain green. Drought and heat tolerance is excellent.

In addition, it contributes to protecting the ground in slopes against erosion.

Extremely deep root system:
Thanks to its deep root system, the shade mix finds water in deeper soil layers. The typical turf roots receive water and nutrients at a depth of 10-15 cm. Such a plant will wither under drought circumstances even before it reaches the stage of extreme drought. The shade mix grows a root system of 70 cm, therefore it receives water and nutrients at a great depth, something that makes it especially tolerant to drought.

Characteristics:
Very deep root system
Excellent tolerance to drought
Reduced requirement for water, upto 70% less consumption
Reduced requirement for fertilizers
Regular speed of installation
Regular growth rate
Minimal herbicide needs
Very good disease resistance
Very good shade tolerance
Moderate mowing frequency

Arena

Turfgrass for sports fields

The most suitable turfgrass for sports fields. It exhibits high tolerance to drought and reduced need for fertilizing thanks to its root system that reaches a depth of up to 60 cm.

Characteristics:
Quickinstallation
Lownitrogendemand
Good restoration ability in case of damage
Excellent tolerance to stress
Excellenttolerance to drought
Fairly good saving in fertilizers
Minimum need for herbicides
Low maintenance needs
Moderate mowing frequency

Vermuda

Vermuda grows a strong and deep rootsystem, boasts a dense leaf texture, has light to dark green colour, and adapts to the majority of soil types. Also, it grows optimally in warm weather conditions.

Its propagation is realized through stolons and rootstocks. It exhibits excellent tolerance to stress, drought, heat and salinity. It is installed quite quickly, produces lateral stems, thus it is very competitive with weed plants. Vermuda is ideal for home gardens, playing fields, commercial and public spaces.

Characteristics:
High quality turfgrass in summer months.
Increased leaf uniformity.
Ideal for houses, commercial and public spaces, seaside areas and playing fields.
Rapid regrowth in spring.
Very good growth rate.
Very good tolerance to stress.
Very good tolerance to fungus diseases.

Paspalum

Warm-weather turfgrass of dark green colour with fine and dense leaf texture. It exhibits high tolerance to brackish water, drought and heat.

Characteristics:
Vivid deep dark green colour
High tolerance to salinity, up to 5500 ppm
Quick root system growth
Aggressive stolon growth
Very fine leaf texture
Rapid regrowth in spring
Excellent tolerance to leaf diseases
Low maintenance cost

Use:
Ideal for golf courses, public parks, household use, as well as for coastal areas affected by saltiness

Dichondra

Dichondrarepens - Dichondra

Dichondra is a small-leaved and denseperennial plant that has attracted much attention in the past few years as a substitute for turfgrass in partially shaded areas where other turfgrass types cannot grow. Its leaves are kidney-shaped with a diameter of 1.3 cm. It looks like a clover and produces dense turfgrass which usually reaches a height of 4-5 cm. It is extremely tolerant to different types of soil/ground and has proven to be tolerant to both sun and shade. It endures moderates tress and exhibits signs of frostbite at -7οC. Once installed, it grows rapidly and self-seeds.

Benefits:
It grows fully in partial shade, where other varieties are unable to survive
Remains green in cold weather
Relatively low growth height
Does not require frequent mowing
Grows underground and self-seeds
